New Year's Surprise from MEGO – A Riga Resident Wins a Škoda Karoq
The Grand Autumn Lottery Mego & Vesko 2024 has concluded, offering shoppers the chance to win 100 gift cards from Mego, Mēness aptieka, and Lieliskās dāvanas, with a total value of approximately €10,000, as well as the grand prize — a Škoda Karoq.
This year marked the 17th edition of the Mego Lottery featuring a car as the grand prize. Participants from all over Latvia took part, with particularly active involvement from residents of Riga and Daugavpils. Notably, the number of participants continues to grow annually, as does the number of unique registrations, reflecting customer trust and interest in this long-standing Mego tradition.
To participate in the lottery, shoppers needed to purchase two lottery products at Mego or Vesko stores and register their purchase on the website www.megoloterija.lv. The grand prize — a Škoda Karoq — was won by a Riga resident who purchased her lucky products from the brands Latvijas maiznieks and Alma. Interestingly, Latvijas maiznieks products have previously brought luck to lottery participants as well.
The lottery winner, architect Inula Jansone, shared that her favorite store is Mego on Murjāņu Street 50, which she has been visiting for over 20 years. “Mego is more than just a store — it’s a place where I meet wonderful people, enjoy myself, and even participate in the book exchange organized at the store,” said Inula. The store features a special book exchange shelf where visitors can swap books they have read, creating a unique sense of community.
Inula regularly participated in the lottery by registering dozens of receipts. One of her favorite traditions is shopping at Mego on Saturdays with her daughter, buying a cake and other treats, turning shopping into a small celebration.
The keys to the Škoda Karoq were presented to her during a special ceremony at the Green Motors showroom on K. Krasta Street 5, near a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The event was attended by Mego’s long-standing partners — Konig Distribution, Fazer Latvija, and Green Motors — who congratulated the winner and presented her with gifts.
Mego’s Head of Marketing, Aleksandr Afanasyev, enthusiastically noted the growing number of participants and their increasing enthusiasm each year.
